We are happy to announce that our appeal to cover Kaity Squires’ court costs is now over after raising more than the £300 to cover the fine.
Just over £270 was raised on PayPal and £100 was given in cash. Money left over after the fine has gone towards covering the costs of the family incurred during the trial.
We would like to thank everyone who donated, shared the appeal and raised money.
Unfortunately, Kaity’s case is not isolated. All over the UK we are seeing a clampdown on our right to protest; Students fighting against privatisation are being suspended from their own campus’, anti-frackers are being brutalised by police and antifascists are being mass arrested. But when the state attempts to criminalise protests and disobedience, our solidarity can beat the clampdown back. Supporting arrested protesters is one way we can do this.
Solidarity with those who donated, and solidarity to those currently going through this themselves.
